Monitoring / Data Services

With a Ship Dynamics motion sensor and data acquisition system installed, any vessel owner, operator, designer, research organisation, regulatory body and insurance agency can now tap into a wealth of invaluable data. Most modern voyage recording devices are not designed to offer feedback of hull motions and structural strains on a regular basis. Therefore, they fall short when it comes to providing interested parties regular, timely and ongoing feedback of hull motion data. Such data might be useful for owners, charters, operators, designers, builders etc…

The service offered by Ship Dynamics provides access to logged data on vessels fitted with a Ship Dynamics monitoring system that can provide regular reporting feedback on a frequency suited to the client’s needs. The information will generally be based on
- motions reporting;
- wave environment reporting, and
- video monitoring.
Ship Dynamics can tailor an acquisition system and reporting procedure based on the clients specific requirements. Reports are received wherever a vessel operates through connection with either mobile or satellite telecommunications keeping interested parties informed about their vessel.
- Owners will now be able to monitor their vessel and how they are operated throughout the year.
- Charterers can monitor a range of variable from their boats for fleet management.
- Operators can ensure they are operating within the guidelines defined by owner agreements, designers, regulatory bodies and insurance companies assisting them in their vessel management, thus providing a mechanism that promotes operations of best practice.
- Designers have a means where they can monitor the operating profile of their vessel once in service.
- Builders can have a resource that will provide feedback in the event of a warranty claim.
- Equipment Suppliers have a means that they can monitor installations and provide feedback on environmental operating conditions in which their equipment is installed.
- Research and development / Academic organisations can remotely perform measurements and recording.
- Statutory/Regulatory bodies can obtain data to verify vessel performance predictions.
- Finance/Insurance/Legal companies can make use of a system that can provide feedback in the event of a claim based on records they have maintained of the vessel’s operational history. Its instalment could lead to a reduction in the cost of premiums. Whilst current accident recorders provide previous hours of data in the event of an accident, additional historical data regularly kept and maintained during the vessel’s operating life may provide valuable feedback.
- Government/Military orginisations can obtain feedback on their vessels performance assisting in operations planning.
